Bad news for the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, after defensive back Asa Jackson was suspended for the first eight games of the NFL season for a second drug violation.

According to published reports Jackson tested positive for a performance enhancing drug, which will now find him on the sideline for the first half of the upcoming season.

It’s Jackson’s second violation in nine months, and there are some reports out there that Baltimore could elect to part ways with him.

He’s only in his second year after being a fifth round pick in 2012, and his suspension last year was due to the use of Adderall, which is a banned substance, although it’s not yet known what substance that will keep him sidelined this time.

His suspension won’t have any affect on the Patriots match-up against the Ravens this year, as – should Jackson remain a Raven –  the two teams aren’t scheduled to meet until December 22nd.
